Most standard zooms start at 24mm. The TAMRON 20-40mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A062) starts at a genuine 20mm ultra wide-angle and zooms through to a natural 40mm view, with a constant F2.8 aperture the whole way. At just 86.5mm long and 365g (Sony E-mount), it's remarkably compact for a fast zoom, so it's an easy lens to keep on your camera every day. Now available for both Sony E-mount and Nikon Z mount.
Use 20mm for big landscapes, tight interiors and dramatic perspectives, then zoom to 40mm for street snaps and natural-looking portraits. On an APS-C camera it covers the equivalent of 30-60mm.
It's a great pick for video and vlogging too. It's light enough to stay balanced on a gimbal or camera grip, and wide enough at 20mm to fit you and the scene in a selfie shot. The VXD linear motor focuses quickly, accurately and quietly.
